Reminder – Trash Bin Storage

With the arrival of spring, we would like to remind all residents of an existing rule and regulation regarding the storage of trash bins.

From April 1^st to November 30^th, all trash bins must be stored either in garages or in backyards.
During the winter months, from December 1^st to March 31^st, trash bins can be placed on the front side of buildings or stored in garages.

This policy has been in effect since the introduction of these trash bins to Smithfield and serves as an extension of the rule that trash can only be kept in ‘approved places.’

It is essential that bins and any other items are not stored in entryways. This measure is critical in preventing insurance liabilities. If our insurance company carries out an unexpected inspection and finds any violations, the association could risk losing its insurance coverage.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following this rule and regulation by the stated date and to avoid a violation fine.

Building Survey scheduled for Monday, March 30

Please be advised that building surveys will be conducted throughout the community Monday, March 30. Committee representatives and/or a vendor may be present around all buildings as part of this process.

Notice from the Town of Smithfield – Trash & Recycling Bin Spacing Reminder

February 28, 2026

We have received a message from the Department of Public Works/Recycling Department regarding proper trash and recycling bin placement within our condominium community.

🚛 Important Requirement

Per the Town:

There must be at least 1 foot of space between each trash and recycling bin.
If bins are placed too close together, the collection trucks will not be able to empty them.

The automated arms on the trucks require adequate clearance to safely and properly lift each bin. When bins are touching or spaced too closely, pickup may be skipped.

✅ What Owners Need to Do

On our designated trash and recycling collection day:

Space all bins at least 12 inches apart
Ensure bins are not blocked by vehicles or other objects
Place bins in an accessible, visible location as usual

Why This Matters

Improper spacing can result in:

Missed trash or recycling pickup
Overflowing bins
Additional cleanup and inconvenience for residents

Your cooperation helps ensure smooth and timely waste collection for everyone in our community.

Plowing Update and Trash Pickup Delayed (again)

February 24, 2026

Plowing Update

There was a failure with the Bobcat today (Tuesday, February 24th). Horizon is expecting to receive a replacement machine tonight, and will continue to do what they can.

Horizon will be back onsite tomorrow (Wednesday, February 25th) to finish the remaining portions of the property.

We thank you for your patience with the storm cleanup.

8:30pm 2/24 Update: Horizon received the replacement Bobcat and is on our property. The plan is that they will be back tomorrow (Wednesday) to clear what they are unable to get to tonight.

Trash Pickup Delay

According to the Town of Smithfield:

There will be no trash or recycling collection on Monday, February 23rd; Tuesday, February 24th; and Wednesday, February 25th. Collections this week will be on a three-day delay:

This Tuesday’s collection will be Friday

Next week will be on a two-day delay:

Next Tuesday’s collection will be Thursday
